Juncal Alonso

Technical Manager

Ms. Juncal Alonso (female) is a R&D Engineer working at Cloud Technologies projects area of TENCALIA. She got her diploma of Master Telecommunication Engineer (BSc) from the University of the Basque Country (Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieria- UPV) in 2006. She also obtained a Master diploma on Local ICT administration (UNED) and the ITIL certification on IT services management. She has two year experience as ICT consultant for private Telecommunication Companies. After this she joined European Software Institute in 2007(currently Tecnalia), where she worked in the Services for Digital Business group, participating in national and international research projects. Her area of research includes information systems for interoperability and collaboration, business process management, new organizational forms and Future Internet applications in the Web. Currently, Juncal belongs to the Cloud Technology group in TECNALIA as a specialized researcher on Cloud based architectures and migration of legacy applications into the cloud. She participates in several Cloud related projects, such as H2020 OPERANDO and FP7-ARTIST where she leads the Modernization assessment work package. She has also published and presented more than 10 papers in international journals, conferences and workshops. Juncal will act as Technical Manager.

Gorka Benguria

Research Engineer

Mr Gorka Benguria (male) graduated as Computer Engineer (MSc) from the University of Deusto (Bilbao, Spain) in 1997. Currently he works in Cloud Technologies team at TECNALIA. During the last 17 years he has worked in industrial and research projects covering technical and managerial tasks. He has a broad experience in software engineering covering quality models, maturity models, improvement cycles, software architectures, measurement, business process modelling, service oriented architectures, open source development, meta modelling and model transformations. Currently his main research interests include those that enable organisations to seamlessly interoperate among them through the use of cloud and web service resources. He is actively working in automated hybrid cloud provisioning with technologies such as Openstack, Openshift, KVM, Puppet or Nagios. Gorka also participated in previous FP7 project related to cloud computing called REMICS (www.remics.eu) and multicloud based projects such as ARTIST (www.artist-project.eu), MOVEUS (www.moveus-project.eu) or MOBINET (www.mobinet.eu).

Bernd

Prior to joining time.lex in September 2016, Bernd graduated in 2015 as Master of Laws at the Faculty of Law of the Catholic University Leuven (cum laude). He took the options economic law and tax law. Before that, Bernd completed his bachelor's degree at the University of Hasselt, characterized by a strong emphasis on European law. This year, Bernd further specialized in IP / IT by successfully completing the LL.M. Intellectual Property Rights and ICT Law, also at the Catholic University of Leuven (cum laude). His thesis entitled "Legal aspects of the use of encryption technologies as counter-surveillance measure in the EU, as Compared to the US" underscores his interest in ICT law, including privacy and data protection.

Program Manager

M. Sc. in Computer Science, master in marketing, PMI certification, is Program Manager at the Italy Innovation Centre. Claudio has more than 20 years working experience in Information Technology (IT) and IT consulting industry. He has gone through several different experiences, covering technical, marketing and project/programme management positions. Claudio joined HP in year 2000 and worked on several Italian and international projects. Since 2007 he is part of HP Italy Innovation Centre focussing on innovation projects related to Cloud Computing. He is currently coordinating the FP7 Coco Cloud project (http://www.coco-cloud.eu) and managing other cloud computing and IT security projects. His contribution to project teams is particularly toward innovation and exploitation, supporting in business and marketing activities for an effective technology transfer. Claudio works in close collaboration with the HPE EMEA Cloud Team, a HPE’s marketing team dedicated to elaborate and implement the “Go to Market” strategy for Enterprise Hybrid IT transformation in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Prof. Dr. Jos Dumortier

Prof. Dr. Jos Dumortier is a honorary professor in Information Technology Law and Legal Informatics at the Faculty of Law, K.U. Leuven since 1989 and the founder of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Law and Information Technology (ICRI). With this research group he has been in charge of the legal guidance of a large number of IT law and IT policy related research and development projects in Belgium, in particular in the context of the iMinds organisation (www.iminds.be). As the cabinet advisor to the Minister of Justice between 1995 and 1999, he was also in charge of the transposition of the European data protection directive 95/46/EC into Belgian law. Prof. Dumortier frequently works as an expert for the European Commission, for Belgian and foreign governments and for private organizations. He is a member of several boards and committees in Belgium and abroad. Professor Dumortier published numerous books and articles on various issues related to information technology law. He is the editor of the International Encyclopedia of Cyber Law. Since 2014 Jos Dumortier left his functions at the university of Leuven and works on a full-time basis as a time.lex lawyer in Brussels.

Simon Dutkowski (male) graduated from the TU Berlin with a master's degree in Computer Science (Dipl.-Inf.). He is an employee of Fraunhofer FOKUS since 2002 as researcher and project manager. He started working in the competence center for next generation network infrastructures and participated in many international industry projects in the area of telecommunication mobile infrastructure. Later he switched to the department of digital public services and participated on numerous projects from the public sector, especially in the area of open data. He is TOGAF, PRINCE2 and as Scrum Product Owner certified. He has technical skills and experience in Java, JavaScript, Python, Ceylon, Web Programming, Software and API Design, System Architectures, SOA, Reactive Programming, XML/HTML, on Windows and Linux.

Ms. Marisa Escalante (female). She graduated as Computer Engineer (MSc) from the University of Deusto (Bilbao,Spain) in 1996. Maria Luisa worked at TECNALIA from 1997. She played different roles related to Software processimprovement and e-services engineering. At the moment, Maria Luisa is working at the “IT Competitiveness Area”, where she participates in both national and international projects covering a wide range of technical work. Maria Luisa belongs to the Cloud Technologies group in TECNALIA as a specialized researcher on Cloud based architectures and migration of legacy applications into the cloud. She has participated in several Cloud related projects, such as FP7-ARTIST where she led the Modernization assessment work package. She has also published and presented more than 10 papers in international journals, conferences and workshops. Her current research areas are focused on cloud computing, cloud architectures, and technologies and methods for migrating legacy applications to cloud application.

Nicola Fantini

Mr. Nicola Fantini (male) is the CEO of CloudBroker and mainly responsible for business, direct marketing and sales aspects. Nicola has been software engineer, project manager and entrepreneur in the field of software development for more than 20 years. He holds a Master’s degree in computer science and business administration (from the University of Zurich, Switzerland). He worked for five years in the R&D department of 3M, managing and developing solutions for research laboratories and toxicology. Starting from 1995, he has set up his own software engineering companies with development centers in Bulgaria and the Ukraine as well as his consulting practice in Switzerland. He has been involved in and leading projects across industries from logistics/transportation over software to finance, providing operational, commercial, financial as well as technical solutions. Following a strong growth, the Bulgarian development center with more than 150 engineers has been sold to VMware, the leading company in virtualization. Nicola is also a co-founder of Aviaso, now the world leader in fuel efficiency software for airlines and customers such as Lufthansa, Aer Lingus, LOT or Thomas Cook. He has supported and is engaged in a number of technology companies, providing engineering and consulting resources as well as financing solutions.

Mr. David Vallejo (male) holds a degree in Telecommunications Engineering and a Technical Industrial Engineering from Cantabria University. PMP and CISA certified. With over 15 years of experience as IT engineer and manager, he worked in Sweden with GPRS and UMTS research projects, and then in Switzerland leading several IT projects and test teams at Swisscom. He joined ARSYS in 2007 as Head of the Systems Department. Since 2011 he is leading the ARSYS PMO.

Hans Graux

Hans Graux graduated in Law in 2002, and obtained a complementary degree in IT in 2003 (both at K.U. Leuven, Cum Laude). He then joined the Interdisciplinary Centre for Law and Information Technology, where he did fundamental research on a number of IT law related issues, with a specific focus on electronic identity management. In May 2005 he became a lawyer at the bar of Brussels, and participated in a number of international ICT policy studies, primarily for the European Commission. In July 2007, he co-founded the IT law firm time.lex. His expertise lies in the collection of legal and administrative information in cross border studies, in the analysis of legal frameworks and policy choices, and in formulating policy recommendations to eliminate barriers to the correct functioning of the internal market. His recent work for the European Commission has focused on eSignatures, electronic identity management, data protection, e-business and the implementation of the Services Directive.

Mr. Jorge Jiménez Ruiz-Alejos (male) holds a degree in Mathematics from Zaragoza University, a Statistics and Operative Investigation Doctoral and he is currently completing a Thesis on Geometric Models in multiple criteria decisions. Teacher at Mathematics and Economical and Business Schools the Zaragoza University, Programmer of various IT applications for the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation. He joined ARSYS in 2000 as IT Programmer, promoted to Systems Administration and currently he holds the post of Product Architectural Manager.

María Jose López (female) is senior engineer in the SW productivity team within IT competitiveness Area at TECNALIA since 2003, where her area of expertise is the software/system reuse and variability management, as well as IoT middleware development. She obtained his Bachelor Degree in computer engineering in 1993 at the Faculty of Engineering - UPV/EHU, as well as a master degree in Software engineering. Currently studying a Master degree in computational mathematics and engineering at the Open University of Catalonia.

Lorenzo received his Master in Electronics Engineering in 1990 and is a technical consultant for the Technology Services group, contributing to HPE (and before to Digital, Compaq and HP) since 1990. His track record lists 7 years in Corporate R&D, 5 years architecting projects for the financial and telecom markets, 4 years as Business Analysis team leader for a major telecom operator, and 10 years as technical contributor to EC funded research projects. His research interests are on the following areas: languages, security, Cloud computing, Service Level Agreements. Lorenzo contributes to the Technical Committee of several workshops and conferences, e.g. SECOTS, Securware, Cloud Forward 2015 and DIHC (Dependability and Interoperability in Heterogeneous Clouds). Within HPE Italy Innovation Center, Lorenzo is currently contributing and owning technical responsibility for HPE Italy participation in several EC funded FP7 and H2020 projects including Contrail, where he contributed as leader for the WP on Service Level Agreements, and recently ASCETIC and Coco Cloud.

Massimiliano has 27 years of working experience in Italian and international IT Consulting firms. In HP since 1999 (1999-2002 Compaq Computer), he is working in EMEA TSC Storage Delivery Group, covering the role of Technology Consultant. He has worked on a variety of storage related projects focusing on Storage Data Migration, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery solutions, Storage Administration, SAN administration. In addition, for many years he worked as a Unix system administrator (Digital Unix, Tru64, HP-UX). Before joining Hewlett Packard, he worked as software developer and systems/application analyst for an Italian software house. He contributed to the FP7 ASCETIC project. Massimiliano has a technical high school diploma (computer specialization).

Dr. Leire Orue-Echevarria

Dr. Leire Orue-Echevarria (female). She graduated as Computer Engineer (MSc) from the University of Deusto (Bilbao, Spain) and Politecnico di Milano (Milan, Italy) in 1998. She also holds an Executive MBA from the University of Barcelona (Spain) and a Master Degree in Social Studies with a focus on Economics from the University of Abat Oliva (Barcelona, Spain). Leire recently pursued a PhD in Economics at the University Abat Oliba (Barcelona, Spain). Additionally, she is certified in models like CMMI (SEI), methodologies like RUP (IBM) or standards like ITIL. Her professional experience acquired in Spain, Germany and Austria, ranges from different industrial sectors and covering the whole software lifecycle, from requirements elicitation to validation through development, and in the most varied set of applications: web content management systems, intelligent tutoring systems or railway signaling systems. Dr. Orue-Echevarria started working at TECNALIA (former European Software Institute) in 2008 where she has acted as senior CMMI consultant, Project Leader and Project Manager of R&D projects at regional, national and European level, coordinating technically several of them (i.e. mCloud, FP7-IP ARTIST). She leads the Cloud Technologies team at TECNALIA since January 2013. Leire has published more than 15 papers in international journals, conferences and workshops, and has been Programme Committee Member of several conferences. Her current research areas include cloud computing with a special focus on transition to cloud computing, mobile cloud, privacy on the cloud and cloud business models. Leire Orue-Echevarria will act as Project Coordinator.

He collaborated to HP Italy activities in more than 10 European research and innovation projects in the areas of mobile technologies, e-services, advanced internet applications and technologies, eHealth, cloud, energy saving. Before joining Hewlett Packard, he worked as analyst and senior developer for consulting firms, in financial and mobile technologies areas.

Pieter (male) obtained an LLM in Belgian law in 2014 (K.U. Leuven, cum laude) and an LLM in International and European law in 2015 (Saarland University, summa cum laude/first of class). Before joining time.lex in October 2016 Pieter was employed as an academic researcher at the Jean Monnet Chair for European Law and European Integration at Saarland University. In that capacity Pieter mainly researched the current challenges facing data protection in the European Union. He also published several articles on data protection related topics. Pieter specializes in privacy and data protection, ICT law and intellectual property law. He has a special interest in questions of private international law related to the aforementioned fields.

Before Ruben joined time.lex in October 2014 he was a researcher at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Law and ICT (ICRI) at the Faculty of Law at K.U. Leuven. During three years (September 2011-September 2014) he participated in a number of research projects, including the Belgian Cybercrime Centre of Excellence for Training, Research and Education (B-CCENTRE). He also gave a number of guest lectures on a range of different topics in ICT-law. As associate at time.lex Ruben advises on a whole range of topic regarding ICT-law, including e-commerce, privacy & data protection, consumer protection and cybercrime.

Mr. Álvaro Rudíez (male) is responsible for managing and coordinating all press and Social Media channel activities for the company. He holds a degree in Journalism from the Universidad de Navarra and a Master in Marketing and Communications from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. Rudíez has also specialized training in economic information from Instituto de Empresa (IE) and IESE Business School and has extensive professional experience in both external communications and in the IT market. Before joining Arsys in 2004, he had developed his professional career in various publications of the Recoletos Group (currently Unidad Editorial), where he was Senior Editor in the business newspaper Expansión and content coordinator of the magazine Ganar.com. Additionally, he has worked for the newspapers Marca, Negocios & Estilo de Vida and La Rioja.

Ms. Pilar Ruiz Ibáñez (female) graduated as Art History from the University of Deusto (Bilbao, Spain) and University of Granada (Granada, Spain) in 1995. She also holds a Master Degree in Education from University of Granada (Granada, Spain) and Master in Digital Marketing and Business Communication on the Internet (Web 2.0) from ESDEN Business School, (Bilbao, Spain). She is certified in Community Program Manager and as an expert in Ecommerce from ESDEN Business School, (Bilbao, Spain). Hands-on experienced international web strategist, with over 15 years’ experience in managing and working on on-line marketing and IT projects. She is responsible for defining the digital marketing strategy, promo plan and content timeline on ICT Division. Her current research areas are digital marketing with a special focus on web trends. Pilar will be the dissemination manager for the DECIDE action.

Master of Science Majid Salehi Ghamsari has worked in different research teams within several research projects at the Fraunhofer Institute for Open Communication Systems. He has organizational skills like project management and technical coordination of industrial projects, and he is member of various conference program committees. He has also technical skills since 20 years. He is experienced in Java, Perl, SQL, HTML/DHTML/JavaScript, J2EE, EJB, JSP/Servlets, XML/XSL, Web services/SOAP. Extensive experience with almost all computing platforms including Windows, Linux, & Solaris up to systems administration level.
